Steve Edmunds at Montague!
Monday, November 7, 2011 at 11:28PM Today at Montague Wine we were in for a treat! We had our sales rep, Vinicius from David Bowler come in with the winemaker from Edmunds St. John, Steve Edmunds. If you haven't heard of this winery, you're missing out. He's a winemaker who makes french influenced wines, owning vineyards in Napa, Mendocino, El Dorado, and San Luis Obispo. Growing mostly rhone varietals, he also grows Vermentino, Grenache Blanc, and Gamay Noir. Not ferementing any wine in barrels, he makes wines that are a true expression of California terrior. Beautiful, round and fleshy that are fun to drink. The wines we tasted were:
-Heart of Gold 2010 (Vermentino and Grenache Blanc)
-Bone-Jolly Gamay Noir 2009
-Edmunds St. John Porphyry Gamay Noir 2008
-Rocks and Gravel 2009 (Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre.)
-Bassetti Vineyard Syrah 2005
We have in stock the- Porphyry Gamay Noir 2008. So come pick some up! He also makes a wine that we stock called Bebame which is 95% Cabernet Franc and 5% Gamay, carried by T. Edwards wines which Georgia poured at our wine tasting last Saturday, Oct 5th. So, some of you already know the wine! :)
